Tony and the Sargeant Major

My story happened a long time ago, when I went to Whistler wearing my outfit; Hat, shorts, shirt, knee high socks, all in the colour I think of as khaki.

Walking through the village, rather briskly, I saw an elderly Sikh gentleman coming toward me, and as he got closer he whipped off a very smart salute and said “English Officer”; he was also wearing a smile from ear – ear.

I returned the salute, hopefully as smart as his, and said “Carry-on Sarn”t Major”…Must have brought back some pleasant memories and I bet he wore that smile all day….I know I did.
